[News] "Baby box"

If you don't want your baby, put them in the "Baby box"

A hospital in Czech republic established a "Baby box". It is for anyone who has a baby that they don't want or can't afford. Put babies in the white box and push the red button, then it is noticed by the hospital person.

Rudek Tize, who is a doctor in the hospital said, "it is better than throwing away babies in trash baskets."

The personal identity of the parents is protected.

There are 25 baby boxes in Czech republic, but the reason why the "Baby box" in this hospital is special is that it accepts other countries' babies.

"No matter where they are from - czech republic, U.S, Poland - it doesn't matter." The PR manager Pucas Holub said. Babies who are the box would be adopted into Czech families and get a citizenship from Czech republic regardless of their nationalities.

A socialogist in Poland said that the baby box won't have problems because the importance of nationalities is getting smaller in E.U. the effect of nationalities will disappeare gradually while they are being socialized.

The "Baby box" was made for babies who are abandoned. However, it should watched whether it is helpful to save babies lives or encourage deserting.

Who is she?

Jieun Ban, She is in Chicago!!

-Let me introduce my friend.

Jieun Ban is a WEST program participant. She was in Chattanooga last year as an exchange student. She went back to Korea last December. Now is her second time to stay in U.S. Her father recommended participating her in WEST program.

Sometimes she really misses her younger brother. She said “I want to see him just once.” Fortunately, she has enough money to use in Chicago because her parents support her. But after she gets an internship, she will support herself. She usually eats rice, Ramen for meal. She has some foreign friends in Chicago and Chattanooga and she feels comfortable with them. She is rewarded when foreigners understand what she says. She spends her free time with her friends, watching television, playing Go-stop or drinking.

I asked her if she wants to recommend living in Chicago. She said she can’t because she has just been here only 2 months, however, it’s interesting to live in Chicago because Chicago has a lot of festivals and concerts. Until now, she is satisfied.

[Point of view]The problem of youth unemployment

The problem of youth unemployment

-In Korea, 50.7% of unemployed are young people. Over 400,000 young people are still seeking a job opening.

There are many young people who have various aptitudes. These days, most young people are bilingual and have a broad knowledge, degrees and a lot of certifications. Nevertheless it’s very hard to get a job. your 20s is the first time to get a job. This first occupation can decide the way of your life.

At least 10 years ago, young people who got a bachelor’s degree were eligible to be employed. Companies have recruited promising graduates on a yearly basis. At first, companies employed them on a probationary basis, and after 3~5 months they are qualified for a specific position. Through these first experiences of employment, young people have grown up as a professional.

But these days, there are no job openings. Although there are many people who meet all the requirements, companies don’t want to employ more people because of the economic situation. According to our economic depression, people diminish their consumption. This makes firms raise their product’s prices and reluctant to recruit. This situation causes a decline of consumption. As a result, the world is caught in a vicious circle. To overcome the vicious circle, companies should employ more young people.

Fortunately, several companies are trying to recruit graduates by reducing their existing employees' salaries or pension. We call it “distributing employment.” Most employees are willing to have their salaries reduced. We can get through our problems when we make a mutual concessions. We should keep the hope of our prospective employees.

[Reveiw]2008 Dark Knight_The Joker opens the Pandora's box

Director:Christopher Nolan

Writers (WGA):Jonathan Nolan (screenplay) andChristopher Nolan (screenplay)

Release Date:18 July 2008 (USA) Genre:Action Crime Thriller
Tagline:Why So Serious?

People think movies that use "a hero" as their subject are fantasy because, if only one person saves the whole world, he needs some fantastic stuff - such as cutting edge technology or incredible super power.

When The Dark Knight was relreased I though also it might be a kind of fantastic hero movie like The Spiderman and The Ironman. But The Dark Knight is not so much a fantasy, as a sort of movie which is reporting an uncomfortable truth.

When The Batman made by Timothy Burton was relreasd , many people were wildly excited about the Joker rather than the Batman. Delicate but cruel, he was the best Joker. Now,the honor of the best Joker seems to have moved to Heath Ledger. It's not only he is dead but also he made an unprecedented Joker.

Heath Ledger's Joker is totally different from Jack Nicholson's. He's frivolous and has no dignity, in a word a mad man externally. But he is also so smart and good at persuasion. He can use someone's mind and make them do what he wants. His persuation is more reasonable than lawyer Harvey Dent(two face) and more accurate than the Batman.

Most people think that the Joker figthts with the Batman, however, the Batman is the most valuable toy for the Joker. The Joker's real enemy is the world which has made him the Joker. The Joker manipulates the Batman and citizens of Gotham consistently. He takes out evil that is in people's insides. We don't want to admit but should admit the actions that the citizens did-It is an uncomfortable reality. The Joker seems to say-It is the real world where you live that even chases the Batman who is tring to save the world. "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." In our real life, we have always choosen either of them.

In the last scene, the Joker is caught by the Batman and he is hung in the air upside down. But the director turns the camera and stands the Joker straight. If the Joker stands, hanging in the air is us. If the Joker is right, we are wrong....
